Gretchen Beer, D.O.

Life before residency:

I’m from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and grew up with two older brothers and two yellow labs. I attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where I earned my degree in Biology and competitively figure skated in my free time. I relocated to Kansas City for medical school at Kansas City University. After graduating with my D.O./M.B.A. dual degree, I’ve enjoyed traveling the United States ahead of the start of residency!

Memorable moments:

Seeing my first patient on my own
Living in Denmark and seeing my family members
Getting married to my wonderful husband, Artem, in 2017
Celebrating Match Day after matching into this residency program (my first choice!)
Jumping in a waterfall in Hawaii this summer

Why I chose RMC:

After rotating at this residency program as a medical student, returning to the program for an interview felt like “coming home.” Everyone is so friendly, supportive, and intelligent – so, it was easy to imagine myself being successful as a resident, too!

Hobbies & Interests:

I’ve figure skated since I was 3 years old, and it’s still my preferred stress reliever. I also enjoy visiting breweries, reading, traveling internationally, and petting lots of dogs at the park!

Other interesting things about me:

I come from a family of teachers. Originally, as a child, I planned to become a high school science teacher. These days, I look forward to educating my patients and coaching them towards wellness and a better future!
