Personal Comments/Philosophy:

Everyone needs a family doctor.  This belief has sustained and nurtured me through my career in family medicine.

After residency I began practice in Lee's Summit, Missouri, at that time, a smaller town, small group atmosphere.  I stayed 11 years developing a busy and satisfying practice. Always having a desire to teach, I joined the faculty at Goppert in 1992. I have stayed here since that time and my great enthusiasm for teachingcontinues to grow.  I consider it an honor to be involved with the teaching program and strive to be an excellent instructor and mentor.

The Research Family Medicine program is an excellent learning environment.  The obstacles to a resident’s education are very few while the opportunities that facilitate learning are easily accessed.  It is truly a great place in which learn Family Medicine.

I have been honored to be chosen as "Super Doc" for each of the last 7 years, most recently 2015.

My hobbies include traveling, fishing, a lake house that is always in need of something, and care of my grandchildren.  As a family we have explored Ireland, and much of Europe, been trout fishing in Montana and New Zealand, and have river cruised through southern France!

My nonprofessional life is very family centered.  Four of my eight siblings are in the Kansas City area and two of my three children live here also.  My wife and I are empty nesters, but stay quite busy with an expanding family of grandchildren.
